FAQS

What happens if my swimmer can’t come to his/her designated practice time?

The coaching staff at PVP has tried their best to build group schedules that put our swimmers in the best position to succeed. It has been our goal to create a schedule that will keep our athletes and coaches in the best position to succeed. Our age group swim times maximize pool space, and we hope that you can alter your schedule to accommodate for swim practice.

What happens if we do not meet the attendance or meet participation requirements?

We understand that families have a lot going on, especially during the school year. If you are unable to meet the requirements of your group, it will be recommended that you have a sit down meeting with your group coach to determine the best course of action. PVP has implemented attendance and competition requirements with the development of your swimmer at the forefront of our minds.

What if I want to join the swim team but have no competition history to qualify for my age group?

PVP encourages all prospective swimmers to participate in a tryout with our coaching staff. After the evaluation, coaches will place swimmers in the group they feel best fits that swimmers ability. If a swimmer cannot demonstrate the requisite skills, swim lessons will be encouraged until the swimmer is ready to attempt the tryout at a future date.

Why does my swimmer have to have his/her own equipment?

PVP requires all swimmers to have his/her own equipment for a variety of reasons. The first being that PVP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and requiring swimmers to purchase their own equipment mitigates some cost for the club to allow for more pool time, team building events and marketing. Second, purchasing your own equipment is the quickest way to help stop the spread of germs on the pool deck! Lastly, by purchasing their own equipment, we believe that swimmers are demonstrating their passion for their sport and desire to place a stronger focus on developing as an athlete.

PARENT INFORMATION

Parent (Team Support)

Hour Requirements

  • In order to be successful as a club, PVP needs the help and support of our parent community. Parent volunteer hours are an essential part of our club. Coaches spend countless hours planning seasons, creating training plans and completing a variety of other daily duties; not to mention the actual time and energy spent on the pool deck! PVP wants coaches to continue to be able to focus their efforts on creating training programs that develop strong swimmers and well-rounded athletes. In order to do this, PVP needs the help of parents behind the scenes with planning/running major events, assisting with administrative tasks and many other crucial jobs. To ensure that PVP is ready to be as successful as possible, we require that all families contribute a certain number of service hours every year.
  • PVP requires each swimming family to fulfill 10 hours of service every swimming year (August -July).
